Encore poker However, Encore Boston Harbor still plagued by ‘what could have been.’ Prior to the pandemic, this was one of the most active rooms in the country for cash and tournaments and offered a great space for players. We understand that there are greater casino-wide financial considerations, as poker is just not as profitable as slots and other table games. Still, it’s a shame for the New England poker playing community. Encore Boston Harbor still has the makings of a great room, but is just so much smaller in scale than it might have been.

It wasn’t until May 2021 that the MGC finally voted to lift all of the remaining pandemic-related restrictions. One of those restrictions had been to limit poker tables to a maximum of four players. Faced with such a constraint, both MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor decided against reopening their poker rooms. However, now even with full tables of players permitted, the casinos still haven’t reopened those areas. Players lay into Encore When Encore Boston Harbor first opened its doors on June 23rd, 2019, the poker community of Massachusetts rejoiced. The poker room offered a whopping 74 tables, with the smallest No Limit Holdem game being $1/$3, switching up the regional norm of $1/$2. The room was located on the second floor of the casino, boasting a great view of the gaming floor below. Comfortable chairs, state-of-the-art tables, and expert staff made for a top-notch poker room. Encore Boston Harbor was poised to cement itself as the premier poker room in New England.

Encore boston poker room
It was licensed with 25 poker tables, had 22 running in March 2020 and just 14 now. Poker was not allowed in Massachusetts immediately on reopening in July 2020. Rooms & Suites A shout out Mark in security. I couldn’t find my car. Flagged down a security staff on a bicycle. During his rounds he found my car and then found me. Great service. Mark was great. Overall, the casino was great.
